Raw Geomtetry Feature

The raw geometry feature allows users to preserve a copy of the full geometry before generalization takes place when indexing documents.

Enabling Feature (Server)

In order to enable this feature in Voyager Server, a user only needs to enable the Preserve full geometry setting under Index > Spatial Settings and restart their Voyager Server instance. Upon doing so, when indexing documents with geometries that will be generalized using Voyager Server, a copy of the full geometry will be stored before generalization takes place.

Enabling Feature (HQ)

In order to enable this feature in HQ, a user only needs to enable the Preserve full geometry setting under the Geometry tab when configuring a pipeline. Upon doing so, when indexing documents with geometries that will be generalized using HQ and the configured pipeline, a copy of the full geometry will be stored before generalization takes place.

Retrieving Full Geometries

In order to retrieve the full geometry, whether indexed with HQ or Voyager Server, a user needs to use the proper filter query when querying solr. By specifying the full geometry field in a filter query (fl=geo:[geo field=geo_full]), a user is able to retrieve the raw ungeneralized geometry for a document or documents. This can be used for displaying in a UI or for other processing.

Example query: http://<host>:<port>/solr/v0/select?q=*:*&fl=geo:[geo field=geo_full]&wt=json
